The Binghamton University Pharmacy Technician Program Microcredential is a comprehensive 20-week training program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as entry-level pharmacy technicians. This 420-hour noncredit program emphasizes hands-on learning through a combination of online modules, live classroom instruction, and state-of-the-art simulation labs. A key component of the program is the clinical rotations at local hospitals and pharmacies, offering real-world experience under the guidance of experienced preceptors. In partnership with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) PharmTech® Ready program, the curriculum covers a wide range of essential skills, from dispensing prescriptions to preparing sterile and non-sterile medications and processing insurance claims. The program also includes training in Basic Life Support, HIPAA compliance, and Blood Borne Pathogens. Graduates will be well-prepared to pass the national pharmacy technician certification exam and pursue fulfilling careers in the growing healthcare field, with the program aiming for 100% job placement for its graduates.
