Binghamton University’s Pharmacy Technician Program Microcredential is a comprehensive 20-week, 420-hour training program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as entry-level pharmacy technicians. This noncredit microcredential program focuses on preparing graduates to confidently begin their careers in the expanding healthcare field, assisting pharmacists with medication dispensing, patient care, and ensuring medication safety. The curriculum combines online self-paced learning, live classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and four weeks of clinical rotations in local hospitals and pharmacies. This practical approach, coupled with experienced preceptors, prepares students to take and pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) CPhT certification exam. Furthermore, the program aims to build an educated healthcare workforce in the Binghamton/Broome County area with a goal of 100% job placement for its graduates, who will be highly sought after.
