The Binghamton University Pharmacy Technician Program Microcredential is a comprehensive 20-week training program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as entry-level pharmacy technicians. This 420-hour noncredit program combines online, self-paced learning with live classroom sessions and hands-on laboratory experience, culminating in clinical rotations at local hospitals and pharmacies. The curriculum focuses on essential tasks such as dispensing prescriptions, preparing medications, managing inventory, and processing insurance claims, while also expanding into advanced roles like medication reconciliation and allergy screening. Upon completion, graduates will be prepared to pass the national pharmacy technician certification exam and confidently begin their careers in this growing healthcare field. With a mission to build an educated workforce in the Broome County area and a goal of 100% job placement, this program provides a strong foundation for a fulfilling and impactful career in pharmacy. The program is pursuing full accreditation from ASHP and ACPE.
