Tidewater Community College’s Pharmacy Technology program offers a fast track into a rewarding healthcare career. Designed to be completed in just two semesters, this program equips students with the essential skills and knowledge to become pharmacy technicians. The curriculum focuses on general pharmacology and medical terminology, providing a solid foundation for success in the field. What sets this program apart is its emphasis on real-world, hands-on experience, preparing graduates for the demands of a fast-paced pharmacy environment. Students will be prepared to order, stock, package, prepare, and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, all while gaining the confidence to excel. Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination, becoming Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhT) and stepping confidently into this in-demand healthcare role. Note that acceptance to the program is selective and requires a separate application, and you must be 18 years or older to qualify for the program internship.
